Infant and Toddler Care
Pines provides care for infants and young children during the two Sunday morning services as well as other church related functions. Childcare is provided so that parents may participate in worship and other activities at Pines. Our mission is to nurture the children with loving care while helping them to experience the love of Christ. We strive to contribute to the well being of each child in a way that will build trust in the family of God.
Sunday Morning Schedule
8:45-9:30 a.m.
Child care for children who’s parents are teaching and setting up rooms for Sunday school.
9:30-12:00 noon
Child care for infants through 35 months in rooms W-7 (toddlers) & W-8 (infants).
Godly Play
During the 11:00 service children ages 3 1/2 through 3rd grade are invited to come up to the front for a short "Time for Young Disciples" lesson. They then go with a trained teacher and trained teens to room W-12 to participate in a program called Godly Play. This is a Montessori approach to worship for children created by Jerome Barryman. They will learn about and participate in prayer and worship, and contribute an offering that helps in various outreach projects.
Worship Bags
During both services Worship Bags are available for the children. Some are marked for Pre K and Kindergarten children and some for elementary children. They can be found at the back of the church. In their Sunday school classes they will learn ways to participate in the service that brings them into the experience and makes it a time of growth and connection with their Pines family. We also have developed children's worship bulletins for our elementary children. You can get one of these from the ushers. Please be sure to return the bags in good order before leaving the service.
Sunday School: Ages 3-5th Grade
Our Sunday morning classes provide a place where children can grow in their faith and relationship with Christ and with each other.
Children ages 3-6 will participate in the curriculum called: Hands On Bible. Hands on activities keep kids engaged as they grow closer to Jesus, and learn about His love for them. Children in grades 2nd and 3rd will take part in a program that follows the church year. They also receive their own personal Bible and find out how to use them in fun engaging activities where they explore the Bible and it's truths. Children grades 4th & 5th will be participating in service projects and will go through attention getting Bible lessons that will get them digging into the Bible to answer questions about life and faith.
Faith Weaver Friends
Six Sunday nights in the fall and in the spring your children ages 4 through 5th grade are invited to participate in a community of faith. Every five children will be nurtured and cared for by a trained teen or adult as their mentor. All groups travel to five stations: games, crafts, science, journaling and snacks every 15 minutes. The whole group will participate in songs and Bible skits as well as an outreach project for the session. This is open to our Pines families as well as those outside the family. You are welcome to bring your friends.
Vacation Bible School
The whole church participates and spends lots of hours preparing for a summer Vacation Bible School. This is our big event for the year and we have many talented people that make things special for the children. We have had visits in the past from Christian actors playing such roles as Peter, Joseph, Mary and a Roman Soldier as well as others. We have great music and small group attention a well as large group activities.
Family Nights
We believe in bringing families together and in having multigenerational activities with our church congregation. During the year we have several events that include all ages. A Family Advent Night, a day to decorate the church for Christmas and movie nights are just a few.
Prayer Pals
Each of our children are paired with an adult prayer pal who makes a commitment to pray for their child daily throughout their lives. The children in turn pray for their adult prayer pal. They send birthday cards and have a breakfast together in the fall. Our congregation ise dedicated to raising our youth to be strong and healthy leaders for the future.
